    Hi
The rates vary but expect around €60k - €70k per annum.

Between €25 and €45 per hour. Closer he is to Dublin the closer it will be to €45

    Thanks for your replys.

Due to a lrg amt of PM's. I am not in a position to take CV's, as stated im just enquiring for a friend. He will be recruiting locally and handling the recruitment process himself.

    thanks

It’s progressive that your friend is now in a position that he needs an accountant on the payroll. Obviously a €60k accountant is out of the question for a €1.5m turnover company. However, it’s probably not right to say that the company requires a “Financial Controller” either, just yet!

I’d also avoid paying a per hour rate – by paying a salary you’d expect to get some O/T hours for free as part of normal salary work.

Ideally what you’re looking for is to pay someone for three full days or 5 half days a week. If you’re really lucky you’ll get an experienced “financial controller” level accountant i.e. semi-retired accountant or someone that’s trying to balance child minding with a career.

You should be able to get a good experienced accountant for €30k for such an arrangement, maybe even less.

Interesting point about the unpaid over time but if you went with the self employed consultant route you would avoid Employers PRSI, Statutory sick pay, statutory maternity leave / pay, paid annual leave and all employment rights. All you have to do is pay over your VAT and you would just have to pay for all the hours worked with flexibility to increase/ decrease the hours as needed, and if someone would do for €25 an hour you would be laughing at such a cheap price!!! but to quote Warren Buffett ‘Price is what you pay but value is what you get’ :)

Yip - Self Employed consultant should definitely be an option if the Accountant has other consultancy income etc.

However, I've had mixed experience with this in the past. Some employers think it's too good to be true. :)
