Call 1890 347 347.to make appointment. You will need to arrange NCT and suitability test for car. When depends on available appointment but would advise you when you get appointment to call them everyday with hope of getting a cancelation

the new car thats going to become a taxi will have to be less than nine years old . so the 02 car will not pass.
ring the taxi regulators office for more info
    just a ps
the rule of a less than nine year old car applies to existing plate owner if the plate is in a new name then the car must be less than three years .

The three year car rule will apply in this case as your father has passed away it would still be in his name. Your best bet would be to try and sell it as they are looking to bring in a new rule that all plates cannot be sold on after this year.
Price wise im not sure but would guess about 1500 ish or less.

Renting out a plate is a pain in the xss. For the maybe €40pw you will be very lucky not to be chasing the driver for payment or renting out the car same problem. Remember its very hard to find your taxi in the middle of Dublin if you want it back.Over the years lots of cars have been stored in car parks while off duty so the finance or rental company couldn't find them
