    Hey guys.

I have a ticking noise coming from the area near the coolant in my Golf IV. Its from the plastic parts that connect to the collant on the engine on the drivers side.

Anyone knwo what it could be??

    Thanks

That's a purge canister and it's supposed to "tick". The noise you are hearing is a solenoid switching inside the component.

Thanks guys :). Much appreciated. While I am here what does it do? And why does it only 'tick' sometimes?

That's just the Charcoal Filter that's clicking. Perfectly normal.

Yep happens on my Golf too. Went to Garage to have it checked out while I was getting a service. When the valve builds up with pressure, it begins to ticks Yeh I can hear it from the inside which isn't the best quality of sound you want to hear coming from inside you car
