With that Mickey Mouse competition out of the way the real action starts on Thursday.
    Round of 16 First leg
CSKA Moskva Shakhtar 12 Mar 18:00
    Hamburg Galatasaray 12 Mar 18:00
Dynamo Kyiv Metalist 12 Mar 18:00
    PSG Braga 12 Mar 20:15
    Bremen Saint-Etienne 12 Mar 20:30
Man. City AaB 12 Mar 20:45
    Udinese Zenit 12 Mar 20:45
    Marseille Ajax 12 Mar 20:45

Massive, massive game. Quite possibly our biggest in 20 odd years. Really wish we were away first.

De Jong is unavailable, Bellamy is out, and Kompany is a serious doubt. However Robinho is back 100% and training well apparently.

The optimist says a 2-0 win, the pessimist fears 2-2.

    Can't wait for it!

Hmmmm looks like Vinny K might not make it so -

    Given

    Richards
    Dunne
    Onouha
    Bridge

    Zabaleta

    Ireland
    Elano

    Wright-Phillips
    Robinho

    Caicedo

    would be my guess

thats still a strong side, has to be a win, the players know how good they can play at home 3-0 for me (crossed fingers). robby with an overdue hatrick

Hamburg vs Galatasaray live on Setanta Ireland now...

Given the huge Turkish population in Germany, this has a great atmosphere and should have a bit of needle to it...

    City to win 2-0 here

    Lose 1-0 in Denmark

Is the Man City game on the tv?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    It's 4.30am here and I haven't slept I'm so nervous.

Any betting men out there should stick a fiver on their lad Caca to score. The press will have a field day with that one.

    Dont have that :(

It's annoying how bbc show it previous rounds and then just dump it, are the rights on a match/round by match/round basis?

will watch it on tvu anyways, cheers!

if anyone's interested in the man city game.

good start by city. dominant enough early on, and a nice goal. something very smooth about their play so far.

edit: the stream has gotten very laggy, might improve though.

    Stone wall peno denied

Should have been a penalty there.

Ireland is having a great game. City creating a lot of chances with little effort it seems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

aalborg not up to much, but city have been very impressive.

robinho is a class above along with ireland.

caicedo has no idea how good he could be. fu**** beast.

stonewall penalty plus a couple of misses.

if city don't get 3 or 4 I'd be shocked. this tie should be over before they set foot on the plane to schmeicheland.

should be more than 2. the three boys are running the show. robby needs a goal, its been a while

insane that the penalty wasnt given - the commentator didnt make much out of it really?

Stephen Ireland - the white Pelé!

Finally a little bit of good news for serie A, Udinese beat Zenith 2-0, Quagliarella and Di Natale got the goals. I didn't watch it, but apparently there was 7 minutes stoppage time and 9 players were booked, so it must have been a fairly incident-packed game.
