ALERT:False positive by Windows Malicious Removal Tool on legitimate "Trojan Remover"

    Idiots at Microsoft.

Trojan Remover saved my PC (XPPro) from the virus(es?) that caused same problem that Shadow187 experienced in this thread (i.e., Windows updates stopped updating; couldn't download Superantispyware; couldn't update Malwarebytes, etc and PC was going to u-know-where fast).

I was ready to do a Kill Disk and re-format to my hard drive. It was very very bad. Days in Safe Mode trying to clean up!

I found a few links about Trojan Remover saying the virus apparently hadn't included it in its "excluded/diverted" links, etc. With it and the help here in the "I think I have a virus" sticky, I was able to get things cleared up.

Then today the know-alls, do-all-and-be-alls at Microsoft and their "Malicious Removal Tool" that I innocently downloaded to my laptop (Vista) detected Trojan Remover as malware!!!

The Trojan Remover link above says we have to download the program again to fix it, but I used System Restore to yesterday and it seems to work ok. If you have to do that, just remember to get the updates back immediately.

Note: I did NOT download the Malicious Removal Tool again when I went back to the updates after System Restore. sheeeesh.

I wish I were not such a relative novice and could manage to switch to linux or ubuntu and still use all my programs without having to have a brain transplant...
