    Hey,
Looking for feedback on expedia as I'm going booking a hotel for a party of 9 in Santa Ponsa and just want to make sure Expedia will sort the hotel and we won't be left with the hotel saying there's no rooms or we've no reservations.

Also there was a billing address problem for Irish people a year or two ago but I assume this is gone now since there is now an expedia.ie website.

So any comments about expedia please share.

    Thanks,
    Rich

To me who travels a lot your question is like "Is Google any good as an Internet search engine?" :)

Expedia is a booking supermarket who make bookings on your behalf at agreed rates all around the world. They are a very large middle man company.

You pay them and they pay somebody else and your booking is made through the company of the service that your are soliciting.

I.e You search for flights and you get 5 prices back and you select the right choice for you and book it. Your contract is organised by expedia through to the end company(i.e Singapore Airlines) and Expedia get their commission from the sale and any fees associated.

Can this procedure be flawed? Yes because you are involving a third party in the booking procedure. They will seek out the best prices for you but thats not to say its actually the best price you can achieve by your own research. Its a handy supermarket more so than anything else.

I had an experience with a third party company whom involved another subisidary third party as well in the booking system whom neglected to pay the hotel the money I had paid the 1st third party so the hotel wanted a deposit until it was sorted. I used this booking agent many times before and a few times since and looked at this as being an annoying mistake but nothing major.

If you find the price on Expedia suitable then book away. They are a bonded company so your money and booking are safe.

Thanks lads,im aware they are established company and I know there is always a chance of things going wrong but Im just looking for past experiences with them from other people good and bad reviews.

Trying to decide to book with hotelbooking.com or expedia.ie and looking for feedback on which one people would pick to book with.

    Cheers,
    Rich

If it was me, I would always book with the better known name, in this case, Expedia. I have used them in the past and had no problems, in fact, I booked my flights with them this year and saved several hundred euro over booking direct with the airline.

Just make sure you keep all correspondance from them and your booking confirmation. Also, if I have boooked through a third party, I always ring the hotel a couple of weeks before I travel to insure that they have the booking and they have a record of it being paid. Other than that, you should be fine.
