I currently have an eng reg L200 that i NEED TO SELL TO BUY A VAN FOR WORK BUT I CANNOT NOT SHIFT IT AT ANY REASONABLE MONEY. It looks like i'm going to have to convert and use as the van i need.
Q 1. Can one be converted legally as commercial?
and 2. Can any one tell me where i can get a rolling floor as i would need side access to equipment fixed to floor?

I'm not a mechanic so this isn't a professional opinion.

From talking to friends who are mechanics in the past I understood the rear seats have to be removed and that area completely covered over so passengers cannot sit there.

I don't know how that applies in the case of a crew cab vehicle (is it a crew cab?), so I would advise going to a garage that tests commercial vehicles. L200's are a common vehicle aren't they? They will have seen one before and will be able to advise you properly.

What? L200? Commercial as commercial can be is it not?

It is a crew cab. thats why i would need rolling floor attached also. Thanks for help. I have spoken to a couple of guys but they were looking for over €1000 to convert it. thats madness as im trying to cut my costs. at that rate it would be as cheap to pay vrt as a crewcab.

Classed as crew cab with 5 seats. vrt only 50 times more expensive at least!!

13.5% compared to the roughly 30%-36% it would be as a full passenger. Won't get any cheaper I'm afraid.

Thing is I know of two guys that have had these done for €50.00 just cant figure out how they got away with it. Thats why Im throwing it there because if they were able to do it, somebody must know how its done.

Well it's a crewcab, and should be VRT'd at 13.5%. If you want to pay €50 you should of just bought a van. I don't know how they got it for fifty euro, but it doesn't sound very legit. I'm open to correction on this, though.

I bought this when times were busier and required a rear seat but the BIG R has changed all that. Changing direction in business, need a commercial type vehicle but finance wont cover the cost of another vehicle. Any bit of help that can get me around this problem now will suffice. Thanks

I'm assuming you have not VRT'd it yet, so it's still on English plates. The country is full of these yokes, for your exact reason. Try and sell it, be realistic about price (find out how much it will cost to VRT and include that in that add). Make it the cheapest and it's bound to sell. Although, the likes of this will be plentiful in auctions.

How much do you think it's worth as is?

Actually, could be a tad over priced.

The biggest problem is the revenue open market selling price, its miles off for the current market prices, its pushin up the VRT a couple of hundred on this type vehicle...

Its auto, 3.2 (heartbreaker of an engine by all accounts) and 17950 plus vat making it 21,800 with six times the mileage. Fair enough it has extras and is new model. surely i cant be that far off the mark. there is 06's with little or no extras advertised for this money and bigger.

But what are you converting it too? It can't be converted any more. carzone or driving.ie aren't loading for me so I can't have a look at prices.
