Just wondering what kind fo things they do?

I'm joining soon and want to progress through the ranks quickly to make up for lost ground.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Cheers.

Shoot guns 'n things, march 'n things. March in the parade. That's all. Sergeant in six months. Captain the following year.

Ha ha take the above with a pinch of salt. Depending on the unit you'll be a minimum of 3 years, going through Recruit, 2* and 3* training, before you can get your foot on the career ladder as an NCO. Get off your "POTs" course you'll be a Cpl. then after 2 years you can go on your "Standards" to become a Sgt. etc.

Once your a Cpl. and have the completed the required courses in un-learning, marching out of step and general inability to make right decisions you can apply to go on the officers course to get your pips (but you must first get your medical which involves a full frontal lobotomy:p). This course takes 2 years and you'll start at the bottom again as a red-arse looey (Lt.)

For career progression keep your nose clean, volunteer for everything and get as many courses as possible under your belt.

Well ask a silly question get a.....well you know the drill. He already asked about sexual abuse in the RDF thread and looking at his posts, he's visited the drama  and vegetarian? and the politics forums injecting not always relevant comments.

My comments are thus in the spirit of his, if you know what I mean.;)

I remember a saying from years ago, I try to stick by it - esp when dealing with recruits and younger lads...

'There is no such thing as a stupid question - only stupid answers'
