I'm waiting on UPC to upgrade my cable for wireless broadband and they say it wont be done for a few months, so I'm looking for a wireless alteranative (as im not willing to get a landline installed by Eircom) for downloading torrents and connecting to Xbox Live...not for online gaming just for demos and updates...

Will Ripwave do the job...does anyone know how to connect Ripwave to my 360 if I do decide to get it?

Im just outside the city center in Dublin.

Any help would be much appreiciated.

    UPC don't offer wireless broadband.

Ripwave also isn't really broadband, and it may not work (well) with torrents. Large file downloads have been known to stall if they take too long.

In short, it's somewhat patchy, but might serve your needs. As for connecting it, I would suggest an Ethernet cable.

The OP may mean Cable Broadband with a WiFi router. Which UPC does supply. People often confuse Broadband + WiFi (= Wireless to gadget/console/laptop) with actually Wireless Broadband (usually NOT wireless to gadget/console/laptop) and Mobile [Wireless] Broadband (=EDGE/3G/HSDPA etc and not actually Broadband)

Yes you can connect Ripwave if you get a ethernet not USB model. While Wireless, it will need a WiFi (wireless) Router with ethernet WAN port to use Wireless/WiFi to Xbox or Laptop.

However ping (latency) on Ripwave is 80ms to 2000ms, unsuitable for gaming, and the speed can vary from 50K to 1Mbps typically. The 2Mbps service is not much better. The speed and reliability is unsuitable for downloads. The Cap may mean torrents are not much good.
