Public sector strike on 30 March - will this affect tests?

    Hi,

I was quite pleased to get my letter advising me of my test for 30 March in Churchtown. But, I've read recently that lots of the public sector unions are planning a strike that day to protest against the pension levy. Does anyone know whether RSA testers will be participating in this? And if so, what happens to those assigned tests? I spent 35 minutes on hold to Ballina yesterday and couldn't hang on any longer!

I would really like to do my test as scheduled because I feel I'm ready; however if I do book the afternoon off for my test I will need to withdraw from a very interesting training course at work that begins that day and that won't be held again til next year. So while I'm willing to sacrifice my place on the training course for the test, I would hate to miss both!

Does anyone here work for the RSA or know anything about the likely impact, if any, of the strike?
    Thank you.

    Fiona,

I am almost certain they will be cancelled as almost all public sector workers are unionised and as I understand it this covers driving tests also. They're may be a glimmer if social partnership is started again-in which case day might be called off.
