    no bother

you can get long reach caliper breaks from Billys:

    http://www.billys.co.uk/english/group.php?prod=bcdc-806

or look out for Tektro dual pivot R556 long reach brakes from eBay or LBS - bit more expensive but more pleasing aesthetically and I'm sure work better - on my wish list.

actually, those dia compe ones I linked on Billy's are dual pivot - only had single pivot when I got mine

each to his own on the brake front.

Yeah, I'm wondering this, too. I've an old Dawes frame (1980s, I'd say) and Carlton frame. Haven't measured the carlton but the Dawes is Rear: 125mm (possible to cold set to 130mm or 120mm); Front: 90/95mm, but I assume they take the older size. The brakes are the ones you install through a hole in the front fork. So there's nothing to do about getting the old brake to link up?

Lads, where can I get deep drop caliper brakes for a road bike at short notice? Billy's has to put a rear on order. It's an old frame with 700c tyres, so I need the brakes to stretch to 75mm.

    Any ideas?

If it's for a fixer then I would drop the rear - doesn't really have much use unless you'll be riding freewheel now and then.

Tektro R556 is a nice looking long-drop brake but - drop is classified as 73mm max though - apart from that then the Dia Compe's are the only ones I've come across that would do the job.

Otherwise ebay and talk to a good LBS. Think Bike! got me a nice Tektro crosstop lever so I'd assume they can get hold of the brakes if the 73mm will do you. Worth talking to rothar.ie and square wheel too.

I'll be riding freewheel so I'll need front and rear.
