    Hi again -

I am in the process of moving hoiuse and weaiting for the inyernet to be installed.
I was thinking about getting a Pay as you go, no contract with or meteor for now until I am properly set up.

I am looking at these modems online they cost between 70 to 80 euro, but I should be able to get them cheaper in gumtree or eBay.

Would any of these modem work? I mean, If I get a second hand 3 modem, could I use it with Meteor? does it work with a chip that i can change, is it locked like mobike phones?

    Cheers :)

    Thread moved to midband.

The modems are locked, just like phones. You can get them unlocked, and you can buy unlocked ones (usually more expensive).

All you'll need to check is if Meteor will give you the SIM only, without forcing you to buy the modem too. When Three, Vodafone and O2 first started with mobile broadband, you couldn't buy a SIM only, you had to buy the modem. That has changed now though, I believe.

I have seen 3 modem in the UK for sale much cheaper. If it was locked on 3 UK, would it still be locked for 3 ireland?

If it's locked to Three UK, then it can't be used with a Three Ireland SIM.
