Wildly famous mystery novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is bored with his own success. Then he learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murder scenes depicted in his novels. Castle is questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a bright and aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under tight rein. Though they instantly clash, sparks of another sort also begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle steps in to help find the killer. And once that case is solved, he and Beckett build on their new relationship as they look to solve more strange homicides in New York - as much fun as one can have with death and murder. Castle is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan), and quick-witted teenage daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn). Also starring in the series are Ruben Santiago-Hudson as NYPD Captain Roy Montgomery, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan.

Nathan Fillion back on tv :D

... in a pretty average show with no possibility of continuation/renewal unless they make some changes. Really likeable actor, but he just can't catch a break.

Tom Shales in the Washington Post referred to it as 'misbegotten "Moonlighting" imitation '.

That's enough for me to keep well away from it ;)

just watched the 2nd episode - the first one was better but hpefulyl it will get better as the show goes on.

Am i the only one who was expeting the story of the serial killer who was mimmicing the murders in his books to last all season?

would have guaranted longevity in the show as people love angoing story arcs rather than stand alone episodes.
What he is doing now - following along to get inspiration for his next book could have been the season 2 story arc.

ye but its competation is not that great

theres a poll up on tv.com - which ABC show do you want renewed

    Better Off Ted
    Castle
    Cupid
    In the Motherhood
    Surviving Suburbia
    The Unusuals

You're in charge at ABC but can only renew one of these shows. Which will it be?
    Results
    Better Off Ted 19%
    Castle 48%
    Cupid 7%
    In the Motherhood 3%
    Surviving Suburbia 4%
    The Unusuals 20%

    *fingers crossed*
i still think the serial killer should have been a season story arc

I'd have preferred that, to be honest. Guess they weren't sure how much interest it would get, and decided to go the stand alone episodes route. Pity. Still enjoying it, but its hardly top tier TV.

They should rename this "Generic cop show with quirky non-policeman lead character who solves crimes by unconventional means". Much catchier

Have to totally disagree with you there. I love this show. Easily one of my favourites on TV at the moment.

It doesn't take itself too seriously like other cop shows - it's meant to be funny.

    has this finished on rte?

No... Still 2 to go in the States (and RTÉ are behind, obviously).

Alibi (didn't know it existed until recently, it is on UPC digital) have started showing this from the begining recently, think they are on the 4th or 5th episode this week

So I started watching it from scratch there, it is enjoyable fluff really, anything with nathan Fillon is generally a good thing anyway

While I find the plot lines a bit generic and too episodic for my liking, the characters are fun and interesting and they interact and play off each very well. It's a good fun way to pass the time without needing to get too involved.
