Mini electric shock?

Hey all I thought this was a bit strange so maybe its happened to some of you? Basically sometimes (very rarely but it does happen) when I'm lifting weights I get this little electric shock through where ever the stress is at the time. It only lasts an instant but just thought it was weird. It happened a good while ago when my muscles were probably exhausted but it happened again today and it was on my second exercise after squat so the muscles wouldn't have been tired at all. Just wondering if any of you have any ideas what is causing this or why its happening? It doesn't really hurt or anything as I said its a very small prick kind of sensation.

I think I have had a similar thing once or twice. Probably is actually electrically based, those muscle stimulation ab belt slendertone things use current to electrically stimulate the muscle. It could be your body "firing" electrical signals from the muscle or something.

I got it in my knee at the back (kneepit?!). I have had quite a few electric shocks in my day and can sense charges like this.

Are you rubbing your feet on some sort of floor / carpet between squat sets?

I get this every now and again. It is probably related to a build up of static on whatever equipment you are using.
    • opening doors
    • touching handles on threadmill
    • closing car door
    • taking off t-shirt when it rubs hair
    • etc

Nope I dont think so cause it doesn't happen just when I touch the bar but rather just as I'm pushing up or as I come down to the rest position of an exercise. Its rare though only happened once or twice just thought it was strange.

    Hey,

Just did a search on gooogle and found this post.
The last couple of times in the gym when I'm squatting I've noticed a sort of mini electric shock or pinch when I initially lift the bar of the rack after I stand back. Just wondering if this is anything to be concerned about?
Its just a quick pinch/shock and doesnt hurt at all after that really. Just thought ti was a bit weird.

I get shocks off EVERYTHING... but not usually during a set. I get shocked off car doors, taps, water coming out of a tap, fridge doors, chin-ups bars, barbells, water fountain in gym - every f*ckin thing!

I'm the guy in the gym who taps or pats the bar several times to "earth" himself before starting a set. Or, in work, I'm the guy who approaches the kitchen sink cautiously and sneaks up on the tap if I wanna fill the kettle!
