Has anyone else spotted a dramatic drop in the quotes provided by vrt.ie?
I've only been looking at one or two models so I'm not sure if its the same for all cars.
It seems the Revenue have decided to revise the OMSP to reflect what cars are actually been sold for.

The OMSP is still way off on the majority of cars. The OMSP is 90% of the current market value of the car set by the SIMI, check it out on www.vrt.ie

I'm looking to VRT a 07 C200 CDI Avantgarde SE Auto and there telling me the OMSP is 39,951 which means the market value is €43,946 some load of b*llox!!! I'd could buy a brand new one for that price the way thing are at the moment.

Only 1% of people appeal the vrt once paid and of that 1% 90% win there appeal. Even if you appeal and win your case the vrt for the next sucker will still remain at the original OMSP price set even though they have admitted that the price was over inflated on your appeal, pure scam!!!

In my case, the OMSP is horribly under valued and I dread the day I might ever have to make an insurance claim. €6000? That has to be a joke.

Why how much is your car worth voodoomelon? Not like them to undervalue it

Twice that easy. Not many buyers out there for big engines, but that's what it's worth. They were €18,000-€20,000 this time last year, that is, my spec, year and mileage.

Insurance companies would never pay out based on OMSP - they end paying too much most of the time.

€2100 on a 2000 (second last year of production). Cheap at twice the price. :)

I was told before by a guy who works for an insurance company on here that they rarely pay out higher than the OMSP? Needless to say i'd fight it into the ground.

Hell of a car, but would the omsp really be that far wrong? Surely you'd have one in from england for that? Whats the tax like? Iv always considered getting one but i think id go for the 740i, is the 728 quick?

When I was looking 10 months ago for one in Ireland (of which there was never more than 7 or 8 for sale) they all had over 100,000 miles, no nav, 16" basketweave wheels and generally lower spec and they were all priced at €18,000-€20,000 at the time, from dealers and private owners. I'd say they were worth more in the region of €15,000-€16,000, but anyways.

I got mine from England, absolutely MINT, every single person that sees it thinks it looks like a new car, 69000 miles, a genuine Sport, fully loaded with every available extra bar heated seats and rear blinds for considerably less than €20,000, I have it insured for €15,000 which might be a little on the high side, but no point in undervaluing it.

728 is also a lot more desirable than the 740, cheaper tax, cheaper insurance and over 33MPG on the motorway. I'm not sure what the regular 728 is like, but the Sport model gives you a lower diff for increased acceleration and the steptronic box, so it has plenty of poke with 193bhp. 735 was an extra €1000 in insurance for me, so the 728 was a no brainer. Tax is now €1200 with the recent hike. There are very few cars out there, including Porches and Ferraris, that i'd have over this.

Were the lights always blue on it or did you put them on?

I take it you're looking at the pictures in the gallery, no, I added them in. However I got replacements as I wasn't happy with them and now the angel eyes are white. No E38 came with angel eyes unfortunately, however I like them and thought i'd stick some in. :)
