    Hi guys,

slight problem. I bought a pair of USB headphones there last week. I also have a set of logitech pc speakers that I plug into my laptop.

When i plug in the headphones to a USB port the laptop speakers are muted and no sound comes from them. If i plug the USB headphones out the speakers work again.

I would like to know how can I get the USB headphones and PC speakers to work similutaneously.

I have messed around with settings such as mute settings of both sound cards in the device manager but I still cannot rectify the problem.

Laptop is a dell inspiron 2200 (bought in 2005)
Soundcard driver in laptop is SigmaTel C-Major Audio.

Are the drivers definately installed correctly? can you remove and reinstall them before continuing?

I had a similar issue with a Dell Studio recently :)

yes they are installed correctly and I have the most recent updates that I can get for the drivers. I also removed and reinstalled the USB soundcard for the headphones.

The USB headphones also come with an integrated remote control on its cable which controls the volume. However, if im listening to music with the laptop soundcard and I plug in the USB headphones, I can automatically use the USB headphone remote to control the volume of the laptop soundcard. Therefore it should work simultaneously but I believe that there is a function turned off or set to default somewhere.

AFAIK what you want to do is not possible. The USB headset has its own "sound card" built in so essentially you have two sound devices, your headset and the sound card your speakers are plugged in to. Windows will only use one of these devices. I hope someone can prove me wrong but from my experience that's the way it works.

I'd also say it's not possible. If the headphones had a 3.5 mm jack the speakers would mute when you plugged them in and there'd be nothing you could do about it so it's reasonable to assume the usb ones are designed the same way

Why do you want to do this? So you can use the remote control feature?
