How did you end up joining boards?

What happened? Apart from the obvious, what was the reason behind it?

Me? I wanted to break up with a girlfriend. I signed up, spent alot less time with her and thinking about her. Broke up anyway, and stayed here.

    Who's next?

I was looking for somewhere to steal members from for TeenIreland. After I shut it down I guess I just ended up here. :pac:

That makes no sense. You joined boards to break up with a girlfriend? Why? How did that help? Was she a member and you sent her a private message to say "Oi! Sling yer hook luv!"?

I joined Boards to read a recurring 'How did you end up joining Boards' thread. And guess what? Here it is again!

Was something to do with Airsoft. I then realised that Airsoft is the equivalent of paying to have stones thrown at you.

My main haunts are Motors, Aviation, AH and PI (for the hilariousness).

I signed up to help co-ordinate Al Qaeda communications through PM's. Check the join date.

I joined initially to try and get a band together and then just forgot about it for a few years. Then I got a job where I was infront of a computer all day and my need to f*ck with people led me right back here.

Was painfully bored. And probably under an influence or two. I log back in for the same reasons, generally.

Before broadband, when we were limited to Dial up I heard of a one way satellite service called Europe Online. Boards.ie had a lot to say on the matter so I joined and never looked back.

Oh for those interested, Europe online was a service where you put a DVB card in your PC. You would then go online and you could put download links on your account on their site and schedule it. The downloads would be pushed down at a very fast rate at the scheduled time.

There was a sort of underground system that used it too. You used the 3rd party software to make your requests and anyone else interested in that sort of download would have it pushed down too. I could pick movies and games and when I came home I might have 20gigs or more of stuff to filter through. I used to get a lot of porn but I always got movies and games that way, I would have movies I would have never thought to download myself.
Great system but broadband made it obsolete.

They are still around but the service is different than what I used to have.

My Landlady was a bitch and throttling our internet so I couldnt use Skype to call the US (or play games. mostly the games) so I got on Legal Discussion to discuss the bit in my apartment's advertising about "Unlimited Broadband".

Someone showed me a thread one day. Bored a few days later and thought I'd give it a look. Decided to join up coz I wanted to post something. Then left it for ages. Then I had like 2 months free and spent a lot of it on the internet, which lead back here.

So its your fault I'm here?:D

When I originally signed up, I barely posted, until the name re-appeared in the papers about the site-wide topic of gigs(main interest at the time). So came on more often then, and found Leaving Cert, and so on and so forth.

I know who you work for. I'm the tall short, dark albino, handsome Mr. Burns fella in the car park. Boards and stalking FTW.

I'm paid by the EU to post on Politics, the European Union and Conspiracy theory forum.

Also helped when I Googled BBC codes for Sky and found Boards.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Found boards after a google search for the Dublin Marathon. Got some brilliant advice on the marathon/triathlon forum. Have been hooked on boards ever since.
