    Total NooB issue here...

I have some videos uploaded from my phone to my laptop, they seem to have been saved in 'Real Player' format (im not sure that i asked them to be saved as such but anyway, thats the format they are in).

Now I want to format/edit them into one video using Windos Movie Maker (Becuse that software is already installed on my laptop).

Anyway, when i try to pick up the files, it wont let me as it says it doesn't recognise the format, fair enough... But when i go to resave the files as something else it appears that they are locked into real player format

Am I doing something wrong? Help, Please!!

right click on the file and select open with, then click choose a default program, select Windows Media Player and tick the box that says Always use this selected program etc etc..

If this doesn't work go http://media-convert.com/ and select .flv as your output file. The former should work though. Let me know if you've anymore issues.

I think othere is a codec (now... I could be wrong) called "real alternative" that will allow movie maker to recognise these.

have a google... I'd send a link but Im at work :)

    Edit:

Worth checking this out I'd say :D

    Thanks guys!

The file converter worked a treat but I have hit another wall... When i try to import the converted files into Movie Maker, I am getting this error message:

"C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Pictures\Videos\Mini Adventure.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from"

Any suggestions what this may be about?

Most phone video formats are either in .3GP or lately .MP4. Forget about the sluggish Real Player and WMP, download and install VLC and let that associate itself with all audio and video formats - I haven't found a video it doesn't play yet (unless it's corrupt of course).

As for joining the videos together, I suggest using this one called MediaJoin - it's free and easy to use.
