Anyone got any ideas on good destination. Male and Female early 20s. We were thinking something maybe along the lines of Barcelona/Amsterdam/Milan. Flights pretty pricey though. Looking for a place we can go out for few drinks and then bit of sightseeing or anything else to do during the day.

    Thanks

From a personal point of view I'd rule out Milan, it isn't really that nice of a place.

Barcelona on the other hand is, flights vary you should be able to pick up a flight each for €120 which is a little pricey still. We found a lovely 5 star hotel which were doing a great offer, basically getting a junior suite for 3 nights for a total price of €318 which is fantastic - you could spend the whole 3 days in the hotel is was so pleasant, when booking on any site check out their specials.

Zurich is a fantastic place as is Stockholm - although both can be pricey enough.

Check out http://wikitravel.org/en/Main_Page for your own outlook on all the cities.

You give the impression that affordability is an important consideration. In that case, you should reckon in the price levels in your destination: they matter more than the cost of getting there.

Lisbon is much cheaper than most other destinations in western Europe, and is a fascinating city with lots to see.

In central Europe, Budapest can be very affordable, and I am always happy to find an excuse to go there again.

I'm sorry but I have to comment on the above post. Again I am sorry but Lisbon is a dirty filthy city fuelled with crime, it isn't safe and pick pocketing and robbery is high.

Budapest - the people are extremely ignorant, it will be your worst nightmare.

You'd be safer in Darndale - seriously

    Cheers for the replies.

Famous that deal sounds amazing, you got the name of the hotel? I know it's highly unlikely to get a similar deal but just in case. you just find it on their own website or is there some discount website for Barcelona?

Affordability not a huge issue but would obviously prefer not be coming home broke after few nights

    That's a load of bollocks.

While there is some crime in all cities, Lisbon isn't a standout: Barcelona, for one example, has a higher incidence of street crime.

I have been to Budapest several times. I can recall only one example of a local being rude, and many examples of people being friendly -- and not just professional friendliness based on hope or expectation that I might spend money with them (that, of course, is also there).

Booked it thru their own site, they are bout 10 mins outside the main city but bear in mind you can access there via the metro in a matter of minutes. The actual area around the hotel is very nice too.

here is the link http://www.princess-hotels.com/ the 3 for 2 option is best.

We are going again next month and we got 3 nights in the junior suite for €102 a night €330 in total.

I said nothing about you; I commented on your post.

I spent the weekend in Liverpool and it was great fun! Good for live music and cheesy Beatles tours. Good night life and shops too, and the flights aren't too expensive.

Amsterdam is always a good idea- I think Aerlingus have a sale on too!!
