What is the process to claim for Job Seekers Benefit?

    Hi

I have just been put on a three day week in work so I filled in my form for Job Seekers benefit today and brought it to the social welfare office.

My problem is I just don't know the process of what happens now! The girl in the social welfare office just gave me these little forms and I have to fill out with the X and O what days I worked in the week and she said I have to drop these completed forms back into the social welfare office every Thursday. She did everything so quick and had me out the door before I could ask any questions!

So I drop these forms into the SW office with the days I worked and then what happens?!! If anyone could shed some light on this for me that would be great!

    L.

often your employer will have to sign the form (I used to do this where I worked)

so just bring it in to them and they'll fill out the form for you :)

Thanks Xiney, they did mention to me that I had to get my employer to sign these forms.

The problem I have is I dont know what happens after I get the form signed by my employer and drop it into the SW office. Do I need to go in and sign to get my payments on a different day than i drop in the form!!

I work a 3 day week and sign for the other days. I get the same forms you get, where I have to fill in X and O on the days I'm working etc. Then I get my employer to sign it and I leave it in the dole office. I get a cheque in the post every week when I do this and I don't need to actually go into the dole anymore, apart from leaving in this form every week.

If you have just applied for this, you might not get a cheque for a while until it is sorted out properly, but you will get back money, and then the cheques will come every week.
Are the forms you have at the moment white ones? You would usually get white ones first, until your claim is sorted out properly. Then when this is done, you will get yellow ones. These are the official ones. They have the same information, but instead of hand written like the white ones, these will be printed. Once you get these, it is just a matter of filling them in every week and as I said, you should get a cheque in the post every week.

Thank you so much Graceland! :o:o I just couldn't get my head around what was going on and what I had to do. They did not even mention how I was going to get my payments. Thanks for the tip on the forms, I do have the white ones now so at least I will know things are sorted when I get the yellow ones.

    Thanks again!

You're very welcome. It is actually a very straight forward system when you get used to it. When your claim is sorted out properly and you start getting the yellow forms - you will get these sent to you every 4 weeks. When you come to the last one for filling in, you would normally have the next batch (or shortly after).
Glad I could help as sometimes things aren't explained properly when you go to the dole office.
