Transmission v uTorrent

I've a new mini on the way this week and I'll be setting it up as my HTPC using Plex as the front end. Up until now I had an old windows laptop (10 years old!) running utorrent. I want to retire this machine and use the mini for this purpose running either utorrent or transmission in the background when Plex is running. I had considered Azeurus but it seems too much of a hog and I don't want this when running Plex. From all the reviews I've read it sounds like Transmission is the best, but what about the new utorrent beta? There seems to be mixed feeling out there regarding it.

Anyone tried it and recommend it over Transmission?

I'd stick with Transmission for now. uTorrent has a bit to go yet.

    +1 for Transmission.

(Note to all posters: be careful what direction this thread, or any other threads regarding torrent programs could take).

uTorrent on Windows = Insanely Brilliant
Transmission on Mac though is my favourite :)

Cool looks like Transmission gets the vote :)
Or would I be mad to run windows utorrent in crossover

transmission is a daycent torrent client.

rTorrent is good too. uses even less resources although the interface can be a bit confusing at the start

+1 - on Windows, uTorrent is the best I've ever used but the Mac version is still far from complete... Transmission is a much better native solution, at least for now.

+1 for Transmission. Im running it on my mini without any problems. Usually run it in the background with the likes of a browser, paralells and iTunnes running without any problem (although I do have 2Gb RAM). uTorrent is a fantastic client and the first I would recommend to most for windows but its only new to the Mac so Im going to let it mature for a while before seeing if I would switch.

Gowd's am I the only one on the planet using Limewire as my torrent client ?

I find it bloody fantastic, and not too much of a hog on my macbook (1.8 CD)

Occasionally I'll fire up Tomato by accident, virtually no interface but works well too.

I like Transmission. I was using the artist formerly known as 'Azureus' - is it Vuze now, but the native Mac torrent apps have caught up in features and performance. Vuze was great and definitely the fastest but also a pig to use.
