    Hi Folks

I'm looking for some advise on a good itinerary for a trip to Borneo this June/July. The plan so far is this.

    M 22nd fly out
    T 23rd Kuala Lumpur
    W 24th KL
    T 25th KL
    F 26th KL
    S 27th train to Singapore
    S 28th Sing
    M 29th Sing
    T 30th Sing
    W 1st Sing
    T 2nd Sing
F 3rd Plane to Kota Kinabalu
S 4th Head to Kinabalu National Park. (Bus 1-2 hours)
    S 5th 1 Free day in Park
    M 6th Climb Mnt Kinabalu
    T 7th Climb Mnt Kinabalu
    W 8th Hot Springs & Canopy walk
T 9th Back to KK (TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PARK)
    F 10th Bus to Miri
S 11th Niah Caves Nat Park
    S 12th Mula Nat Park
    M 13th Mula Nat Park
T 14th Back to Miri - back to KK
F 15th Fly back to KL and Fly home.

I'm hoping someone who has been to Borneo can advise me on how easy it is to get around from KK to Kinabalu Nat Park to Miri and to Mula Nat Park. Are the dates I've listed realistic? I can shave a day off Kuala Lumpur and Singapore if I have to but am still looking for advise on what are a reasonable amount of days to get around Borneo and do all the things I've listed.

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Cheers
    Dakan

i'd shave a day off singa and maybe fit in something else on borneo. have you thought about doing a one day dive? or perhaps you could do they white water rafting thats on offer in kk? 1/2 day + 5 full days + 1/2 day in singa is a lot i reckon! maybe keep one of the days in kl til the end for shopping. you wont be rushing around much either!

Id take a day or 3 off KL. There isnt much to see there tbh. I would definately take a trip out to sandakan to see the orangutans and maybe take a boat trip down a river. We did it and it was much better then we thought it would be.

KK to Kinabalu Nat Park is fine. Loads of buses either way to it and the public buses will stop at the enterance. Dont get a taxi as they are really expensive.

Not sure about miri as we didnt go there, but I know you can fly there via air aisa.

Borneo is much more expensive then the rest of SE Asia, although not as bad as here somethings are very expensive. How are you booking the climb? Are you fit?:D I did it a few months ago. God it was tough!!! but very worth it! Going down though is just as hard on the legs.

Don't take the train to Sing, waste of time, buses are faster and just as comfortable.

Agree with less time in Sing and KL and more time in Borneo or elsewhere.

Was it? Apart from beer, I don't remember much being too expensive over there.

Also, I agree with less time in KL and Singapore and go deeper into Borneo.

    Amazing place.

Don't know anything about Borneo but definitely cut down your time in Singapore and KL. Singapore is expensive and kinda boring compared to the rest of Asia I thought. 3 nights would do you. KL is good but 3 nights would be as much as you would need there too.

Cut a day off KL and Singapore.

Either spend longer in Borneo, or, which I would recommend is, getting a bus from KL to Melaka. Nice interesting town and from there, it is possible to get a bus from Melaka to Singapore.

Singapore can be covered in two days easily

Deffo only need a night or two in KL and same goes for Singapore. Consider staying in Georgetown for a night or two instead

This thread is a year old. I'm sure the OP has been to Borneo and back by now...
