Got an iPod touch for Christmas and as I have the best luck in the world I lost it...or it was lifted. Anyway, some mates of mine said that Apple would replace it and deactivate the old one. Is this true? If so how do I go about doing such a thing?

Unfortuantely this is not the case, I believe it is technically possible that apple could deactivate what they considered to be ill gotten ipods but no do not do this at present and they will not replace your lost stolen ipod.

impossible i'm afraid, it could be done with an iphone alright as that's in constant contact with a cell tower and mobile operator block stolen handsets daily but since the ipod touch hasn't got a celluar chip it's as good as gone i'm afraid.
