still looking around at the various guitars available aside from the standard fender, gibson etc.

I know of bacchus as they recieve fantastic praise on these boards. just wondering, aside from bacchus, are there any other high quality brands out there that beat the known brands, that are of similar quality to bacchus?

    Fujigen :D

Most of the guitars on the U_Box that don't have Fender or Gibson written on the head would probably fall under that category.

Loads of good stuff out there of the lesser spotted varieties!!

Baccchus as you mentioned- incredible for the money!
Feylya's Fujiens are sweet, he has a Strat and a Les Paul, both of which are real nice.
On the MIJ side youve got your Burny's, Orvilles and Orville by Gibsons, Grecos, Tokais, Yamahas, Edwards/ESP, Epiphone Elitist and more.

Some others I'd love to try: Blade-Levinson, Framus, Duesenburg, Eggles (Dazberry's are deadly!)- Jaysus, need I go on!! I wanna try every last guitar in the known universe!!

A big name brand that goes for silly money used are Hamer, got one recently and still cant decide which is my favourite - that or the Bacchus.
There really is a whole big bad world of choice out there, before you ever go near a Fender or Gibson, even if they've been blatantly inspired by the big two. Get googling fguihen, if there's something you're interested in chances are one of us will have tried it and can give you an opinion.

thanks folks. still on the search for a tele style guitar and although the bacchus t standard is “the one“, it comes in at just under 1400 euros after income tax and shipping, which is a bit steep at present so looking at other non fender options, just to see what's there. I'll post back here when I have questions on other brands.thanks.

I rather like the look of Gadow guitars. They're still a relatively small company so they don't have a lot of recognition at the moment. The downside, of course, is that they have a very low resale value. But that means that excellent deals can be had on second hand ones. I'm really thinking about getting one for myself. To me the possibility of getting a handmade guitar with quality component for around a grand is really appealing. I think it outweighs the risk.
