If there is one thing I have learned it this:
Never pre-order a big release game for PS3 from Play.com as you will never get it on release day or sometimes even during the first week. Many have found this out for GT5: Prologue, GTA4 & Killzone 2.

i dont get preordering in general, unless you live miles away from the nearest game store

its almost a complete freak of nature when a game physically sells out

Yeah the only games that generally sell out are GTA's. Getting resi 5 on 360 because the ps3 version has a 4gb+ install(i hate forced installs:mad: )

Did anyone else think that the demo for this totally sucked? I never played RE4 but I was a huge fan of the first three and this just did nothing for me. Gammy controls didn't help.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭Captain-America

Never played any of them, but I played the demo. The controls confused the hell out of me. Have they always been like that?

No, the old games were far more forgiving and were based more around puzzles than just shooting zombies (not that there wasn't any of that)

That thread is showing xtravision is cheaper than play and gamesnash.

Just repeating a post from the other thread reffered to :)

Ok this is me being very smart here but could the OP provide a source.

We just rang Xtravision in Blanchardstown who told us the price was not set yet. We then rang on their advice head office and spoke to a lady in the games department who also said price had not been set yet. On both cases we mentioned the €39.99 price and were told it was first they heard of it.

I'm not accusing anyone of lying btw - maybe its a hush hush promotion but it's a fantastic price for a bricks and mortar store if it turns out to be correct.

Last time we saw a game completely sell out as in could not be got for love nor money was the Wii Fit before Xmas and if you don't count that as a game then GTA4 last year.

However we have been told that demand for Resi 5 has outstripped supply and that stock is now being allocated as opposed to retailers receiving their entire orders. That's obviously still a step before nobody having the stock but it's the first time since GTA4 that this has happened.

It was in my local Gamestop today for 39.99, happy days.

Anyone going to bother getting the steelbook version? Got the €39.99 standard version yesterday in Gamestop, but wondering if the limited edition is worth the extra €10???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭shinzon

seems not all xtravisions have the offer, xtravisiion on the dunmore road in waterford had the 39.99 44.99 prices when i went in there, girl then checked on the computer and said the steelbook was mis priced and was actually 54.99 for steelboook and 44.99 for the normal edition

    Shin

Normal edition going for €39.95 in Xtravision in Greystones.

Its for sale at €39.95 in xtravision in Clane, Co. Kildare. Think I'll wait for the reviews first as I wasn't too impressed with the demo.

The steel case is nice, but the only extra is a fairly weak making of DVD... (Doesn't really cover how they made the game itself at all, just how they did the cutscenes)
Worth getting if you're an anal collector type like me, but for the majority of people it's not going to be worth it

saw on the poster today that trading in two games would get you resi 5 for free. anyone know what games they're accepting? was gonna trade in mirror's edge (which annoyed me so much after 3 levels i stopped playing) and Street Fighter 4 (which I've played three times since I've gotten it)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,727 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I am certain SV4 would be one of them. Not so sure about Mirror's Edge. Ring your local to save yourself the trip anyhows.
