    haven`t tried that but ccleaner is quite good and has a registery cleaner also but be sure to make a back up before you delete any registery entries the progamme will ask if you want to make a backup. I have used it many times without any problems but you can never be to careful with the registery

    you could also try stopping any programmes you don`t need running at startup there is a section to controll start ups in ccleaner also although a better option for this would be autoruns be careful with this though and only use the logon tab (not winlogon) if you are unsure about an entry disable it first then if there are no problems you can delete it later if there are problems you can restart the respective entry download from following link
