    As the title says...

I was looking for info on an ex-E.S.B. Scammell and found this site.
Some interesting pics but I'm curious to know what this is.
    Any ideas?

    Its a Minerva Type A.

Also, the Scamell on the Kells Transport Museum website which is credited to Paddy Brennan is not Paddy's truck, nor is it a Highwayman..

    Indeed it's not a Highwayman.

That's the Highway man alright. Paddy has one of them which is restored and one to do.

There are two of the "ex-ESB Scammells" around Limerick but I am not sure what their fate is..

I think there is another one around the Thurles area..

I don't know if there are any plans to restore them at the moment. They were parked in the yard of Hegarty's Scrap Metals for several months but they have been moved from there. They were definately not cut up...

I don't know who owns them now or where they have moved them to. It would be nice to see them restored but they aren't a very practical classic for use and wouldn't exactly place a high priority on creature comforts for the driver ! !

    That's a Constructor.
The one I'm on about is a Contractor.
The one in Howth is ex-C.I.E.

Denis Cronin who owns the Minerva also got an award for it at the Killarney Show a few years ago. He spent over 23 years restoring it, 22 of them trying to find an engine for it!
