id personally spend a little more and get a good one, cobra make some that arent too pricey, but get your locks fixed, how do you currently lock your car ?

Hey Cartman, i just got the car. i cant lock the car unless i want to climb through the boot which i don't! i was thinking this ebay solution could be a good way of bypassing the problem. parts and labour for the locks problem could be a lot more than this solution.

has anyone got an ebay thing like this before? is cheap necessarily bad?

also Cartman, how did you fit the cobra? was it alright?

I got myself a repair kit from ebay for my mk4 golf, It took a couple of hours to fit but it wasn't to bad and the instructions where pretty good.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-FRONT-DOOR-LOCK-REPAIR-KIT_W0QQitemZ190277609622QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item190277609622&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

There seems to be a similar one for the mk3 seems a similar problem on them. Its only 15 and gets you back to normal key entry.

keyless entry is quite easy to fit no matter what the system, you just need 4 wires really

    +12 volts
    - (Ground)
    Door Lock
    Door Unlock

the first 2 are easy to find, the last 2 the easiest way i use (fitted a few of them) is to take off the control panel off the drivers door, and use a voltmeter on the lock/unlock switch, when youve found what your looking for just note the colours and find them again under the dash where the door connects to the car

cobra systems need a little programming depending on the model, just find a system that does both positive and negative locks (not sure what kind your car is)

i have a Sirio system in my car i bought from autosounds in walkinstown, works well and mine has a boot opener aswell. the ebay systems might not necissarily be crap, but judging from other things ive bought off ebay from hong kong id rather not come out to my car and find its unlocking itself randomly

cool, bought the repair kit for 15 pound. if it works out, thats a great bargain.

oh Cartman, how much was the Sirio system? i might look into it in the future when i have more cash in hand. Those systems on Ebay were all from the UK too, i'd be naturally wary of any hong kong products myself.
