Ballyshannon:mad: for the most attractive home game in the league campaign.

Most of us hate the venue, look where its located in the county, quicker for most of us to get to Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh away games.
And the venue today is getting its usual weather for a game there, wind accompanied by hail and snow showers.

Was at the game today, some weather up there, particularly just at the start of the second half - the poor people who weren't allowed into the stand got a right drenching.

Not really much to say about the game, was impressed the way we took control after Donegal drew level. In fairness Donegal could have been ahead but for a terrible kicking performance in the first half, albeit into a strong and wild wind, a wind which Dublin kicked better into in the second half.

Ballyshannon - not much going on around there, some 'ground'.

We did try to throw it away, but 2 pionts are important.

I did'nt make this game but seeing the conditions on tv tonight its like groundhog day to me as the two occasions i have gone to ballyshannon to see the dubs play it was the same kind of conditions and its already been said here theres little to offeri n the town. Thats why i gave this game a miss.

Happy to get two points. Next up Derry in the Nell next saturday night. Oh i love Saturday night games :D

I saw the deferred highlights and I was very impressed with how Dublin played.Ciaran Whelan was everywhere.I saw him midfield, half backs and going into the half forwards.Blaine Kelly impressed me too.I think he is an interesting prospect.Bastic was immense at full back but we'll need to give him time to get more experience at senior level. It will be interesting to see if he retains his place ahead of Griffin when he returns from his club commitments.

Some of the other regulars looked very sharp.Keaney looks set to have a really good year and Bernard Brogan was excellent going forward. One player that stood out more than usual though was Ross McConnell. He scored 2 lovely points which turned out to be the difference between the two teams.

Donegal looked rocked. They never really looked threatening apart from when they levelled it briefly but Dublin showed maturity and composure to play possession football, outplay Donegal and disregard the terrible conditions that had prevented Donegal getting 2 points in the first half.Dunne looks to be the only one trying for Donegal and the introduction of Roper was a lift for Donegal but they look wretched out there.I think it is a struggle now between Donegal and Mayo to keep above 2nd last while I think Westmeath are gone already. On the other hand,it is early days and Dublin and Tyrone are just above water.

I think the game against Derry will be our biggest test to date.Today was the day that we needed to get going in this league and we responded well.Taking into account the bad conditions in Donegal plus the travel,we look to be in better shape again in contrast to earlier outings most notably the Galway match. There is reason to be optimistic.Giller has the right approach and the challenges against Monaghan and Laois prepared them well.

The highlights couldn't have shown how bad Donegal were.

Just because they didn't punish Dublin for leaving half the pitch open doesn't mean it isn't a problem. Dublin were chasing the ball but leaving players free. The best example is Donegals Goal - 4 forwards on 2 defenders. But the wing forward opposite the side which had the ball was consistently open.

Donegal? :p Dublin aren't the only team with that problem.

Dunne is a decent player, not sure if he's Ulster Championship standard but worth a shot.

Murphy will be a fantastic player if we can give him the right ball. If this lad was in Kerry or Galway, he'd do serious damage.

Griffin, Gallagher and Walsh are all young. For a change we are blooding young players and staying up would be a bonus this year.

Except for when he gave the ball away cheaply for the goal.

Both defenses were poor, conditions were terrible and it was a hard hitting game.

Dublin will have learnt a lot from it.

No.Its pay at the turnstiles unless you have the Parnell Park Pass.I reckon there will be a good crowd coming from Derry though. The place will be full for the Dubs first Saturday night game in Parnell of the year.
