Looking at buying a second hand sky box for kids room. Is there any difference what channels i will see depending on whether I put an expired sky card in the box or not?

On my existing box tonight took the card out and seemed to be able to see all bbc channels but no others. Is this the same viewing experience as if i had put an expired card in the box?

An expired Irish card will give you no extra channels. Without a card all the BBC's, ITV's sky news and many others are available as well as channel 4 and 5 through other channels. Theres a sticky on here which explains all.
