I'm considering flying from Dublin to Newark with Continental, in the price includes a train ticket to connect me to Philadelphia.

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used a similar connection service when booking with an airline and what it entails? I'm just a little unsure of connecting via train when booking with an airline.

    Thanks

Never heard of the ticket being included, but it is dead handy.

You go up to the roof of the terminal and get the electric train to newark station. Then you get New Jersey Transit train to Trenton and get off that and get on to the train next to it to Philly.

It sounds complicated but is sooooo easy.

Just one last thought, you do know USAIRWAYS fly direct to philly from dublin.?

I did it in november and they were fine.

Yeah I know they do but the flight with Continental is £150 while the direct flight is £300.

I'm still weighing it up for the need of so many connections to get to where I need to go, I'm travelling to a suburb in Chester County.

Where did you get a flight to NY for £150?
    Is it one-way?

It's a return flight on www.expedia.co.uk might be just the dates I'm flying.

So it is, That's the oddest thing ever!
Wonder can i just skip the train journey altogether and use this as a cheap return flight to NY?

My friend flew with Continental on this route about 2 weeks ago and he got his tickets for €170 return

Did he get the connecting train? If so can you find out how it was handled, where he got his tickets etc?

As superscouse says, it's dead easy getting the train from Newark airport. Local commuter trains (about 2 hours, change in Trenton) are under $10 each way - get your tickets in the station. You can take the Amtrak express (1 hour) for about $50 each way - probably cheapest when booked online.

If booking the train it as part of your Continental ticket, they'll charge you about $100 extra return for the Amtrak, and it's probably more convenient than booking separately.

Cool, think the train ticket is included in the price and the trains seem to run direct with no stopovers. Either way I'm sure it's easy enough to wing it and I wouldn't even mind paying for trains seeing as my flights are so cheap!

Im flying this exact route in August.

How did you get on, was there much hassle getting the train?

Id rather skip the train because Im going to new york anyway but i heard your ticket gets cancelled if you skip the train, is this true?
