Hi, Im new to this site. Im trying to organise a weeks holiday in Lanzarote at Easter for myself , husband and our 4 children aged 14,13,9 and 6. Im wondering if anyone could suggest sites to book holiday through. Or places you have stayed that you would recommend. All suggestions appreciated.

Any travel agent should get you a good deal, or book a villa from the likes of villaplus and get frights from aerlingus.
When your there bring the kids to the texas ranch evening, they are about the right age for it (plus free beer for the adults). Also go during the day, kind of a mini zoo type place.
Also take the catamaran day trip if its running at easter and the weather is anyway decent (includes jetski, scuba diving etc..)

puerto del carmen, los fariones aparthotel
This place gets my vote, It's right on the beach and near the old town. It could not be in a better spot and I'll be going there again.

    Have a look here

Thanks, will check that link, I wonder are holiday agents doing good deals ? i thought it would work cheaper to book on line?

I don't know to be honest, Lanzarote tends to be more expensive than other places either booking online or in a travel agent due to having good weather all year round. I'd be checking out both if I was you Diabeticmum. Easter will be pricey. I went at easter two years ago and the package was expensive. It goes up when the kids are out of school and drops down again the following week.

yeah, I know the price is always hiked when kids are off, unfortunately my holidays are set at easter, august and christmas and im not allowed take holidays outside of these times which is a pain cos its so much harder to get a bargain

Check out all the tour operators online - sometimes their packages can be easier and cheaper than booking flights and accommodation seperately.

Also, you're bonded if anything goes wrong.

You also have assistance on the ground if you book through a holiday company.

As for Lanzarote - it's a great place. Puerto del Carmen is livelier than Playa Blanca but Playa Blanca is just lovely and chilled. There's a water park in Costa Teguise but it's not fantastic though. You've got a mini zoo on the northwest of the island called Guinate Park - it has a walk-through aviary and it's amazing. The zoo itself is fine but the visit is worth the aviary alone.

Go and visit the Timanfaya National Park for some unbelievable scenery.

But if it's just beaches, you can't go wrong with Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen. Or Playa de Papagayo in the nature reserve near Playa Blanca for an unspoilt beach - there's no sunbeds or toilets here but it is stunning.

Good choice :) not too sure on the hotel but Matagorda is LOVELY, so much nicer than Puerto del Carmen and the beachfront is really nice & never crowded, its also really nice for strolling along the promenade in the evenings. If you are renting a car pop down to Puerto Callero which is only a 10 min drive away, its a georgous little marina and has a few fab restaraunts which are surprisingly reasonable given their location. There are "Lanis" restaurants all over the place but I cant say they impressed me at all but each to their own, enjoy!!!!! Im going back to lanzarote this year (havent been in ages) but have decided to give Playa Blance a go this time (renting a villa)
