Salesrep in 1983

The year is 1983 and its time to give back your 1979 Ford Cortina in brown with a vinyl roof. What would you replace it with. You could have an Opel Ascona, a Talbot Solara , the last of the Morris Itals or even one of the new "space age" Ford Sierras. Doesnt have to be one of the above just pick what ever you would've gone for with a picture

The big bumper is generally known as 90 spec. (big bumpers, BBS alloys and a digital fuel injection rather than the K-Jet) But I've seen a few late 89's with it

I was very happy with my Cortina so I'm gona stick with its jelly mould replacement.
I'll get a silver one but what I dont know is all the paint will fall off it in a couple of years

Most of the cars posted here are very optimistic sales rep's cars. I would've thought the likes of the Audi 100/200 and E28 5 Series would be reserved for the higher ranking middle management.

Indeed. And even a base 505 would be in that category too, never mind a turbo one (me likes)

I'd say the base 505 was a popular company car back in the day. It occupied that part of the market until the 405 took over later in the decade.

The 505 was always the more executive car - I wouldn't think many were company cars!

I think the 405 was a successor to the 305. They are both in the sales rep zone alright, where the 505 and before that the 504 (nice!) are much more luxurious

My father bought a two or three year-old 505 GR Saloon back in the day which I think I remember being an ex. company car. If the 505 was the executive car of the range then where did the 604 compete? (I'm not disputing that the 505 was an executive car to some extent.)

Regarding the 405. I think it was a replacement for partially both the 305 and 505, as the 505 saloon finished production the year the 405 was released. There was also a saloon version of the 306 released if you remember, which was probably intended as the true successor to the 305.

They were out in Japan in '83, not sure when they got to Europe. K-Jet's picture has ugly US regulation sealed beam headlamps, what we got was more like this (minus crazy Jap wing mirrors):

get the first of the 1.5 84 bhp monster which is the AE85 ( commonly converted to the Ae86.. 1 differant engine, trim and alloys just set them apart... )
