    Hi,
PP have paid out on Utd doing the domestic treble a few weeks ago. They're still 7/4 (general) for the FA Cup, the Carling Cup wasn't a guarantee, the league is wrapped out.

But why would they pay out when it's not a banker- if it's just for publicity is it worth it?

    Cheers,
    pa.

I'd say its because the don't like having a lot of their punters money wrapped up in long term bets like this which they have a decent chance of winning. It could be more profitable for them to pay out their winnings now and let them lose it all back while the season is still on and they can bet away happily on something that they are familiar with. Otherwise the punter gets paid at the end of the season and can't gamble it away!

They obviously worked out their liabaility for existing bets against the PR gain and decided that it was worth it. They do something like this regularly enough to get some mainstream media publicity.

It also gets the money back into peoples accounts and thus back in circulation for them to lose.

They paid it out because the cost of them paying out the bets was worth it for the publicity the company gained in the media

Indeed a publicity stunt(a la so many others in the last couple of years), does get them huge publicity though, and they are planning to blast into the UK market in the next year or so......
