I fell off my bicycle on the way to the gym Tuesday morning and fell on the concrete road luckily I wasnt badly injured I landed on my knee though and I even got up and walked the rest of the way to the gym I knew however once I tried to walk up the stairs of the gym that this workout was not going to happen so instead I got dressed and cycled to work. The knee itself was a little soft and swollen that morning and sore especially when I cycle, go up and down a stairs or try and sit down.If i dont make any sudden movements while sore im not in agony do you think this will heal itself or do I need to go and see someone? Also my knee feels kind of week like as if I can bend it a little in the oposite direction and when I cycle I get a nerve type pain should I see a physio or a docter do physios refer for xray?

Just let it heal. This isn't a medical forum but you just took a knock it's not like you badly twisted it.

You don't need a doctor and an x-ray if you could walk away from it in my opinion :)

A physiotherapist cannot refer you for an x-ray. That must come from a GP or consultant. If you can afford it then its no harm to seek professional advice. By the sounds of things I would recommend seeing a physiotherapist.

Hmmm, It's a little late for this but in the future you should try hot & cold treatments.

Also hit ye old anti inflammatories for a couple of days, Ibuprofen is usually the best stuff. I also find voltarol cream good to take the edge off joint pain. Give it til Monday and see how you feel!

I dunno Kevpants, I've seen plenty of people get up and walk after a spill then later on when adrenalin & endorphines have worn off they realise the extent of their injuries! Not saying this is the case btw

It's only been 2 days, I wouldn't be seeking medical advice if you can walk just yet. Sure you'd be just told to let the swelling calm down before they assess it & pay for the pleasure of it.

Me personally, I'd give it til Monday to see how it is when the swelling ill be alot less. Has it actually given way or does it just feel like it's going to? Is the pain in any specific area, medial (inner side)or lateral (outer side)side?

Im not in any real bad pain but if I was to put pressure on it walking up a stairs twist it or squat up and down fast I would be in agony

In my experience, doctors find it hard to diagnose soft tissue injuries in the knee. A good physio will figure out what's happened and give you exercises to help you recover.

Let your knee rest for a while first. Don't exercise on it, it's an incredibly important joint and you need to take the injury seriously.

At least now I know why there are always queues of healthy people in front of me at my GP when I'm dying with something.

Seriously? An X-Ray!? Man falls off bike. Knee is fine then in some strange medical conundrum it gets a bit stiff and sore shortly afterwards. Could it be the rare condition, bruising? Or perhaps it's West African swelling?

    He probably needs antibiotics too.

Go and see your doctor. Nobody on here can give you medical advice.
