tax disc misprint

I bought a car last week, the guy said that it was taxed for the year and it cost him about €150. The car is 658cc so this would be near enough. When I went to look at the car I let someone else do the looking/talking because I would have just said ...eh...ye... and not much else, it was my father that was doing the looking because he knows more about cars. Anyway, for whatever reason the tax disc wasn't looked at properly. The date on it said 02/09 with the amount of money €160(I think), I had a good look at the disc which said that it was issued in Dec. I haven't rang the guy to ask him(don't want to do it this late), I'm going to ask the tax office (sending email tonight).

Is it possible to have a misprint on it? It can't be €160 for 3 months when it's less than a 1L engine.

I've been driving around thinking that everything was normal.

A tax disc will have the price paid (eg for either 3, 6 or 12 months) and the full price for the years tax on it.

Under the month- year that it expires it'll have your reg, across from that will be the cost of a years tax
under that will be engine size , tax class (private) and the cost of whatever time period the disc is for (ie 3 months)
under that will be the make and date of issue.

The years tax on yours costs €165.

Op maybe the original tax disc was lost and a new one re-issued in December?
