    Hi,

I'm looking for a set of superminilites/minilites(which ever are the deep dish ones!)

Could anyone here point me in the right direction to buy them please?
I've googled a few places but they all seem to be UK based & unfortunately it adds a lot onto the price with the weight.

Its to suit a Mk III Capri

    Thanks in advance :)

callaghan's of burt co.donegal do them and they deliver. they're not the "original" superlites, but they're good quality and cheap. got them for €550 with tyres.

site's not the best but the number's all you need http://callaghanstyrecentre.com/pages.asp?DocumentID=8

Thanks for all your help folks.

Yep Sids Not I think you might be right on not being able to buy them locally.

I'm raging because there was a set listed for ages on an Irish website but I wasnt in the market for a Capri at the time.
Typical, the day I bought it the ad had gone! :(

There are alloys on the Capri at the mo, I'm not taking delivery of it til tommorrow but from what I can remember of the pics I seen of it the ones on it were a bit rank

I was hoping their might be a few fellow Capri nuts on this site that might have a set lying around that I could relieve them of at the right price ;):D

bit odd but maybe they could work if it's a mk1 or mk2 and you had them kept inside the arches not stuckin out miles like when people put them on 80s fwd starlets

hi if you go on to ae86 website there is several sets for sale on the parts for sale section

    yeah its a mk1 cabriolet

well then they might look alright, kind of euro. but with the offset of them they're designed for rear wheel drive cars and tend to stick out miles when on few cars

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭chiefwiggum

    would need some investigating so.....

what's the pcd of the golf? 4x100? you can get em in that pcd anyway. if you want to see how they'd look roughly from the side, get a good flat angle side on picture of a mk1 gold then go to rarerims.co.uk and upload a picture, you can match up rota RB wheels to it, which are basically a version of superlites. here's the site, think it's even on the right page http://www.rarerims.co.uk/virtual/default.asp

once the picture's up click next on the list of wheels 8 times i think and they'll come up, then click the colour you want to see

Wont the offset be wrong if you put RWD wheels on a FWD car,i tried fitting FWD wheels to my chevette and it just didnt work...:P
Rota rims do an extensive selection afaik.
Post pics if you get sorted!!

Not always..it all depends on the chosen wheels..most modern fwd drive cars have big offsets (et) with very little or no dish.....and if you put them on a rwd car they'll probably look pants and maybe rub on the suspension or inner body parts..where as putting rwd wheels on fwd cars will more than likely stick out past the arches....cool..:p
The width of the wheel will alter this too...but theres nothing worse than skinny rwd wheels on a fwd car.....i remember seeing cortina/escort wheels fitted to fiesta's long ago...yuk.

I'm looking for a set of small diameter (13"-14") wiiiiiide wheels for the Derby and went to register on the AE86 forum as suggested above, thinking that a lot of those AE86s have wide 13" superlight style wheels that would do me fine, especially since they come in 4x100 bolt pattern. The f**kin nazis disallowed my registration!! God only knows why but I "didn't meet their requirements" (note they didn't exactly spell out what those requirements were in the registration process). I presume it was at the whim of some spotty faced Toyota geek.

Obviously my money isn't good enough for them.

    rant over...

Niiiiice! I seen a slightly different set of AlleyCat wheels on a Capri here in Ireland and they looked the business.
I'll have to ad it to the wish list once the respray is done. Unfortunately Cordoba Beige doesnt do it for me. Shame because its immaculate!

tis a nice old capri. you're lucky to have one. I'd love to go after one again but i've had to cut right back on cars and car related expenses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭caprilicious

    Thanks Asphalt Risin.
To be honest I bought it to keep my own car related expenses down! I'm using it as my daily driver.

I had a Z3 as my last car and it broke my heart the amount of money I'd to spend on servicing it (€6000 in one year!):eek:

I love the Capri's as if something goes wrong with them you don't have to plug them into a diagnostic machine and hold your breath while the garage tell you how much they're going to rip you off charge you to get it on the road again!
The other half is handy at mechanics so I know if something goes wrong on it he'll be able to tell me in 5 mins whats wrong with it and they parts cost buttons to buy/fit. :)

if you're thinking of 13" wheels just check they'll clear the calipers before buying. I have a '93 Corolla XLi as my daily driver, probably the same as your '96 and as you probably know the stock wheels are 14"... :)
