    Quick one folks

the missus has a 01 206, in the morning when she inserts the key and turns it to the position before it starts the engine it makes a strange grumbling noise, this has only started recently and the car was serviced and nctd not so long ago,

anyone any idea what it is?

Couldn't really advise without hearing the noise. If it is a noise that is motor related (sounds like a motor), and you are hearing it before you start the engine, the only thing I think it can be is the fuel pump priming the fuel line. If this pump is nearing end of life, it might be getting noisy and this could be what you are hearing but get it proerly diagnosed before you act on this advice obviously.

Your car has a known problem with the radiator fan motor, the bearings wear and it makes a racket when it starts causing trouble but you shouldn't be hearing this before you start the engine when the car is cold.
