    Hi,
my band are rehearsing in a school hall but have been told that we need public liability cover.
Anyone got this cover or know what the story is with getting it - usual cost etc?

we've got a full pa, amps etc.

    thanks

Sounds like someone just being a bollix. Costs a few hundred quid, you can get it anywhere but I wouldn't bother tbh.

Rehearsal rooms in TBMC for €70ish a pop, no red tape.

Mods might want to move this to the Bands & Musicians forum...more likely to get the attention who's been in a similar position over there....

Surely if you are rehearsing, then the general public or schoolkids won't be around?

If so then you shuoldn't need that sort of insurance, if you have the permission from the school to use the place then you should be covered under their insurance.

Who was it that told you you needed it?

PL cover is usually paid by the building. It covers members of the public clients etc. About twelve hundred a year. You should be able to get it cheaper if you are using the hall only one day a week.

I would think that the public libality cover the school already has would cover you but there could be some clause that it's not covered outside of school hours or if a member of staff isn't present.

Think you may have hit the nail on the head there with that last sentence studiorat.

One would think that being a school hall public liability insurance is already in place.
