I was just going thru pages at tv.com & saw this, just my luck i've not got into yet? :(
ABC nukes trippy time-traveling cop show from orbit, but will not pull the show from schedule until its initial order runs course.

lifeonmars_annie.jpg Goodbye, Annie. Goodbye, Annie's hair.

Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, meet Life on Mars. ABC's mass grave of quality shows canceled before their time is one deeper, as the network has officially canceled the freshman sci-fi drama Life on Mars. But instead of the cold shoulder ABC gave last year's trio of high-profile cuts, Life on Mars is being given a proper farewell.
All five of the remaining episodes of Life on Mars will air as planned, reports Variety, instead of the usual shaft job of cutting a canceled show off in mid-stream. This is very important--and can be considered the news' silver lining for Mars fans--because of the show's eerie nature.

Didnt realise one network had that many shows canned, as i remember they had Moonlighting many 'moons' ago :P

    Feck them anyway!!!

    Eli Stone was feckin' class.

Once again all this stuff will probably be replace with more cheap reality rubbish - dumb down fodder for the masses.

How do they expect to build a winning show that could run for years if they don't give it two series?

ABC are in trouble if the top 20 is any measure.

    The original was better anyway.

I see that, only one show & other two are reality. as the whole market is sewn up with CBS+FOX

3 eps left to run link

    Agreed!

Thought the remake got worse week after week...

Completely agree - I hate it when the Americans mess with fantastic shows and rewrite them for an American audience - when will they learn it just doesn't work?

The remake started off great, way better than I expected...
The scene in the first episode
revealing the WTC was really powerful, and tastefully done
I thought, but I lost interest by about the third episode for some reason. At least they've been given time to wrap up the plot, it's probably for the best, considering the length of the original, we would have had a Lost-eque dragged out for too long scenario by season 2!
Jason O'Mara was good in it though, I can see him starring in another show by next year easily!

Nope. The original Life on Mars was shown on BBC America and Showcase though (both edited for ad time obviously, and also to remove some nudity & language)

First eight episodes or so are just re-hashes of the original, but then it starts doing a bit of its own stuff. It's never been fantastic, and it doesn't match the original, but it's fairly watchable and I think we'll see a different explanation as to what's going on with Sam.

The last time a UK show got prime time on network tv was the Muppet Show I think. Its a rare occurance, the Avengers was another one (also why it was made in colour before UK had colour).

Keitel has been great in many roles but he's no patch on Glenister.

I'm not sure I would put the Muppets in with the Avengers, a proper British programme. It was essentially a Sesame Street spin off for adults which moved it's production to London for financing reasons. It was also picked up in the US simultaneously.

Well that's misleading. I was expecting it to be an innuendo. But no. They're actual puppies.

    Oh dear, what a loss.

It might be annoying if we all hadn't seen a better show with the same name run it's course already.
