just wondering..... if you can got to student hairdressers is there somewhere you can go for student beauty therapists???

everyone has to learn right so surely beauty therapy students need someone to practice on?

I know you can get you hair doen by the FAS student hairdressers so maybe try a FAS centre where they do beauty therapy courses

They frequently practice on each other in the classroom, but at exam time the students need to bring in people to practice on.

In crumlin college there was talk of opening to the public for practise but i don't know if they did.
For all exams students need models and it can be hard for them to find someone so if you knew someone you could ask them if anyone needed a model

Ring around all the colleges who do beauty therapy, many students would be happy for a model who isn't familiar to them as it is a much better way to practice than on your classmates. If you ring them a tutor may agree to let you in on a class someday to be a 'client' for someone.

Is it free or like the student hairdressers around half price?

You can't really 'go' to them like you can for hairdressers. But whilst studying they need to do lots and lots of practice so the best thing for you to do is to maybe leave your name and number at a local beauty college saying you're happy to be a guinea pig.

I trained 3 years ago and found a multitude of new 'friends' that were delighted with free facials, tintings, waxings and make ups! Found even more 'friends' when I went on to do the massage course

They will need a model for their exams (usually 2 or 3 actually) but the drawback for this is that if using you for exams in May they can't really practice on you for a couple of months beforehand for things like waxing as you will need to have hair for the exams.

my friend teaches on a beauty therapy course & some of the stories ive heard would put me off ever letting a student beauty therapist near me.. things like not doing waxing properly & making it 10 times more painful for the person.. ouch..

Ah there are horror stories everywhere...I'm sure that some hairdressers also have cutting or dyeing horror stories.

I myself had all of the skin pulled off the back of one of my legs whilst we were learning, by a girl who went on to be a great therapist.

Heard of horror stories that people have paid for too to be honest

They are students so if you aren't overly fussy or fussed then give them a shot OP :D
