Your going to have to be a bit more specific on what your requirements are.

Engine size, number of doors, saloon, hatchback or coupe, importance of fuel economy or performance, etc.

Otherwise people will be recommending anything from a Fiesta to a Rolls Royce.

just something plain and normal, engine size that too big because of insurance prices, something suitable for a 23year old male really. Just lookin really for a something around 00 to 02 if it was in the price range.

I'd recommend a 1.25 litre Ford Fiesta then. Great little car and should be able to pick up a 00 model on your budget.

Fiesta are grand, but hardly a good look for the young man :pac:

You'd pick up a nice Astra or 3dr Corolla for a bit over 2k.

Dont rush in to buying the first car that catches your eye! I got caught badly once so heres some good advice!
    1. Search your prefered make amd model on the internet, theres plenty of good sites that show you whats on offer and near you.
    2. When you narrow your search to two or three cars do a car check on them on carcheck.ie (well worth the few quid).
    3. Try where possible to deal with garages or approved dealers and make sure all paperwork and reciepts are issued otherwise you have very little comeback.
    4. Never buy a car on impluse in a doggy place like a carpark from someone pushy saying he needs a quick sale! I mean never!
    5. Dont accept the sticker price, now the market is ripe for a good deal, ask him to knock off 500 or so, he has the price already topped up in anticipation of this.
    6. Bring a mechanic with you to check the car over and test drive it well, he'll know what to look for
    7. Happy motoring:)
