    The Boogeyman released by WWE

It's deja vu all over again for WWE, as the company announced the release of "The Boogeyman" Marty Wright Wednesday. He had been released previously in September 2006 before finding his way back into the limelight.

"WWE has come to terms on the release of ECW Superstar "The Boogeyman" Marty Wright as of today, March 4. WWE wishes Marty the best in all future endeavors," read a report on WWE.com today.

In October 2004, 40-year-old Marty Wright attempted to become part of Tough Enough IV. He attended the two-day preliminaries that took place in Venice Beach, California, which was attended by 50 competitors. During the second day of the event, he revealed that he was, in fact, ten years older that he was portraying himself to be and was quickly disqualified. However, that wasn't the end of the Marty Wright story in WWE.

Approximately a month and a half later, he was signed by WWE and sent to Ohio Valley to begin his training where, after proving himself, both in terms of his love for wrestling and his charisma and presence in the ring, he was signed to a three-year deal by the organization.

The Boogeyman gimmick began in Ohio Valley Wrestling, and he quickly was lifted up to the main roster through a series of vignettes on both Raw and Smackdown. Although they never showed his face, these spots warned that The Boogeyman was "coming to get you."

Now WWE seemed to have pulled the announcement off their website (unless I'm missing something) but his profile has been taken down off the ECW website.

Edit: And seconds after I posted this WWE put it back up:http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/boogeymanrel

Normally I would be sad for anyone who loses their job, but I am delighted that finally this train wreck is gone, his gimmick was retarded and he truly horrible in the ring. Good riddance and hopefully he will never be back. :)

2 times too many. I guess when you release Cabana things can only get worse.

Pft, you make it sound like WWE losing Cabana is such a bad thing, it's not like he'd fit in with WWE, they sure as hell wouldn't use him.

As for Boogeyman, meh, it was no loss the first time, it won't be any loss this time. :)

He was hopeless, no matter what angle you look at him from, from a wrestling standpoint, from a character standpoint, even from the goldust-esque(that word should NEVER have had to be coined) backstage segments, he was awful.

    No loss!! Haha!

No surprise. What was the point in even signing him up again after being released the first time!

I think your in the wrong thread buddy. :pac:

Unless that historic moment is when JBL transforms in the ring into the boogey?

    Back on-topic:

    My list of boogeyman's achievements:
    1. Appearing in the car/hearse in backstage areas in the SvR games. Nice touch. :)
    2. Um... Bringing the ancient art of worm eating into the forefront of entertainment.
    3. Being the cause of so many kids bashing their heads in with alarm clocks.
I better book my seat for next years HOF just to catch a glimspe. :p
