Ok so I was reading a while ago about the whole thing and was hoping that by now it would be sorted.

    So is it?

Surely by now some official body has cleared it up.

Theres no way the fact that the gear comes through england has anything to do with it. Loads of stuff goes through countries like that in transit.

I wish I could go back to using my favourite retailer.:(

I don't know if anything happened with it. I haven't heard anything about it anyways.

I've ordered a few pistols from Hong Kong. Most retailers don't give you the option of using normal airmail. So I'm taking this as a sign that nothing has been done about it.

When I order I have to use priority airmail (UPS, TNT). UPS have always stung me for "handling charges". Still waiting on TNT to deliver a package, but I don't think they are going to charge me.

I gave up when I went back to college, I was one of the lads sending out the e-mails etc.

I won't be at it again for a while, but all the info is in the original thread for those who want it.

"ems not shipping to eire" is the title I think.

as much great work as they do and will keep doing i'd imagine they would find that a very hard thing to do they have enough on their plate with out worrying about the ems postal service
    get things courier'd

I had a AEG ship from Gunner in Hong Kong to me thru TNT was very fast and proffesional last week, only had a short stop over in customs. Seems I caught them on a good week. :)

This seems more like a thread about what to do now we don't have ems, but I want ems back, it's clearly a mistake on their part and someone should get this corrected. I'd like this kept on topic, I'm well aware I could use a courier but I don't want to I would like to see the ems situation rectified.

    We cannot do it.

I got in touch with the Chinese Embassador in Ireland. After 15 emails and about 10 phone calls I got a response. It is purely in the hands of the British Government.

Everything with EMS to Ireland goes through Heathrow. They feel that something that lands in their country, they have the right to inspect it etc. Airsoft guns, obviously, are illegal in the UK without a skirmishing license or in two tone.

They dont seem to be too pushed to do anything.

This is somthing that the IAA could have allocated time to, but they got completely dragged into the IASRA affair. So,its not high on their priority either, and rightly so theres more pressing issues.

Every possible avenue was explored in this situation by a couple of intrepid people from this forum, but in the end there was nothing that could be done. The IAA do a great job, but they're not miracle workers. While I have every faith in their ability to lead the sport onward, I think asking them to change the policies of one of the worlds biggest shipping companies, and the customs and security policies of another country, is a tad beyond their power.
Yes, couriers are more expensive, but they also deliver exceptionally quickly. For now, you'll have to deal with it and use a courier or not buy abroad at all. What is it that's so special that this "favourite retailer" has but noone else does, either in Ireland, the UK or Europe?

A lot of it has to do with cost and selection. I got a TM before for €160, thats the same price as a clone over here, the retailers in asia have so much more choice to offer as well. Not to say that I don't buy local at all as I have done and will continue to do.

Anyway it seems nothing will get done and this thread seems to have runs it's course already.
