Not sure this is in the right forum but move it if its not.

I've got a bad scar running down my arm, its newish, and it's started to feel pretty tight, like I'm stretching it abit too much, and worried the scar might tear or something. Its also pretty red sometimes. Anybody have any ideas how to deal with this? Maybe some sort of moisturizer or cream?

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi. I had an op on my foot a year ago and the surgeon told me to moisturize it with Aqueous Cream daily, and more frequently. I did so and there is hardly a scar.

    They recommend bio-oil for scars.

Yeah bio-oil on new scars. Just keep it moisturised.

    +1 for Bio Oil.

If you happen to notice that your scar is severely restricting movement, or quickly increasing in size/growing large lumps of scar tissue, make sure to get a professional's opinion as scar tissue can be a hassle to deal with sometimes.

Thanks for the advice, I've just been putting aloe vera stuff on it for the time being, kinda gets rid of the tightness. I'll defintely check out that bio oil stuff and try it out. Luckily it hasn't been severly restricting movement, its just in an awkward place in regards to my arm and elbow, its also raised but I'm taking that as normal since its newish.

Definitely try the Bio Oil. It's expensive enough (about €13ish for 60ml bottle) but you only need a small bit. Rub it in well twice a day and you'll definitely see an improvement. I have a nasty, dark scarred patch on my leg from an infected graze (!!) and it definitely improved the appearance of it and certainly helped with that tight feeling of skin. I'd say make sure your actual wound its fairly healed before putting non-medicated stuff on it as generally the body's system knows best with these things and tightness is a symptom of healing wounds and scar tissue. But if you're confident that the wound itself is healed then slap on the stuff! It's a fantastic moisturiser as well for super-uber dry skin. It'll help reduce the scarring too - over time and with dedicated usage! Best of luck! :)

Yep Bio Oil is the bomb.

I cut my thumb open in a Muller Rice Vs Boxcutter related incident 5 years ago, once I got the stitches removed I used the bio oil on it and it faded down to nearly nothing in a couple of months.

Scars will feel tight as they're healing but that will go away in time.
