Hi, I have to repeat advanced tax, failed by 3%.. arrghh. I just wanna know if there is a large change in the syllabus. I know that the June sitting is taking account of the finance act 2008, would it be advised to repeat the classes, just do the revision course or should my previous notes be sufficient. I can purchase the new book. I am doing 2 other subjects so time is of the essense. Thanks

    Hi

Your best option is to contact your lecturer from last time & explain that you failed marginally and don't want to go back to class, they will advise you of any updates to the syllabus & may even share their tips...
    Best of luck with it!

    Hi Annalucia,

I am taking P6 for the first time in June. I was wondering if you would like to study together online.

We could help each other with queries, share notes etc.

    Sarah :)

Sarhar, thanks for the offer :D. Yeah Im definately interested in that cos most of my notes from last term are ok. I have borrowed the book from my friend and I see that the tax band etc have changed. Is this your only subject to do??

    Hi Annalucia,

That's great. I'm looking forward to working with you.

I have four more prof exams to do - I just take one exam at a time.

I have notes done up on the computer from the last tax exam so I am planning on updating these with the new bands/limits.

What book are you using? I am using the one from BPP. I have been studying retirement relief this week. What have you been looking at and what other exams are you doing in June.

I did P1 last Dec and found it quite tough but passed thank God :)

Thanks, Im actually doing 3 this term, p1, p3 and repeat p6. Just getting to the stage where I would like to finish acca. Retirement relief is a good topic to start from. Are u going to classes? I have the BPP book too but I was given good notes during the term.

    Hi,

No, I'm not going to classes. I always do home study. I went to one revision class once and I just hated it! :)

Yeah I know what you mean about feeling fed up with the whole thing. It's seems like it will never end. I just try to take it one step at a time by just taking one exam. It's a lot less stressful that way.

Where are you based? I am in Waterford.

    Do you study every night?

Hi, Im afraid I dont study every night but Im going get started pretty soon. Ya, the classes are expensive and can be very boring. I did home study for p5 but the rest I have gone to classes. There is a new examiner for p6 this term which should help because the old examiner set really hard exam. Im based in Dublin myself. I'll have a look through what notes I have this eve and see what be of use :).

    Hi Annalucia,
I have a good few notes for the P1 exam.
I was going to study tonight but out electricity went out.
Do you work full time? It can be tough going working by day and studying by night.
So do you want to figure out some kind of study plan for P6?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help me.

I am working my way through the BPP text book for P6 and I am confused about the example question on page 115-116.

I'm not sure how the tax credit of 3,125 for the p/e 30/12/07 was calculated.

I keep finding mistakes in this text so not sure if the book is wrong or if its just me.

Anyway, please help if you can.

Annalucia do you have any idea?

    Many thanks
