copywriting; can a machine ever do it?

    What i am looking into is whether or not new technologies could ever catch up to a copywriter's mind. Word prediction is becoming more and more sophisticated, there are programmes aimed at helping people with improving their writing but could they ever be developed to replace many of the great and invaluable copywriters out there. I have the utmost respect for good copywiters and so i do not feel this is possible although technology does have a way of surprising us.
    In many elements of design there are default settings (which are rarely a good idea but they do exist) that can dictate what shape, typeface, colour something is however the content can never really be just selected as a default, as a slogan for example needs to be unique to each different brief, again suggesting that a human input is imperative.
    So is it the last truly human thing left in design?
    (I am not saying that all design is computer generated, there is some great designers who start with pencil and paper, I only mean that if they really want to they can pick defaults if they really want, it may not lead to good quality design however it is possible to actually do it unlike writing.)
