Ok just wondering how this works. Going to apply for a Learner permit and i have to submit an application form, 2 passport sized photos, fee, Theory test cert, Medical report, and proof of a full B. Problem is I will be posting it to my local motor tax office (don't fancy the drive) so do I have to post my licence with it or how do I prove it??? There are penalty points for driving without your licence afterall. Anyone have this problem or know what to do???

    Thanks

afaik you have 10 days to show your license if you're stopped.

Anyway, a photocopy of your license should be enough.

OP doesn't have learner permit yet.. Just make the trip if you can. then you can get a receipt that will cover you for the few days while it is being posted to you. i think.

edit: nevermind the above.. after i reading the below :P

id say it would.. ur license number is on file and ur photo would be on the photocopy.

does it say anything about it on the application form?

Yeah I suppose thats true. No it never mentioned anything about it on the form that I have seen. I will ring the motor tax office and see what they say. Just don't want the hastle.

The actual current Driving Licence must be included when applying for another Driving Licence/Learner Permit. It says so on the application form.

Photcopy both sides of the Licence before sending it off and keep the copy in the glove compartment. Don't worry about being stopped by the Gardai. They are accustomed to this scenario. They can easily run a radio check on you anyway if they so wished.
