Hi there hope this is in the right place. I have just ordered an samsung nc10 netbook and looking to install office home and student 2007 on it. Netbook obviously has no cd drive so would it be possible to copy office to external hd than copy and install it via usb onto netbook. The office 2007 is good for one more distribution on a pc, would copying it affect the product key ?
The nc10 comes with openoffice so not the end of world if i cant install ms office but would prefer it. Anyone know if this is possible ? Cheers

Easiest way would be to download a trial version (perfectly legal and it should be on microsofts website) and install that. When you start it the first time you will be prompted for a product key. Just put in the product key from your boxed version and hey presto.

You could also use an iso ripper (lciso ripper is good and free, google that one). Use it to rip an iso of the disk. Then use a piece of software called daemon tools to mount the iso as a virtual cd. That would save you having to download but is a bit more technical.

Cheers that sounds a lot more logical.

I installed this recently on the NC10. I just used nero to make an iso of the disk, copied it over to the netbook. I then used a nifty little tool from Microsoft to mount the iso.

While daemon tools may or may not be better, I have been using the virtual cd-rom drive for years without any issue.

Probably worth upgrading the memory to 2GB if you are using office 2007. I managed to get a 2GB stick for £13.99 delivered, so not back breaking.
