    Hi All
Am havin some probs with my ancient Fujitju Siemens Amilo L, specifically the cd rom.
It'll read from cd's but can't finish writing.
    This was happening using CDBurnerXP
I downloaded DivX player and tried to burn using that and it claimed to have burned an entire movie in about 2 seconds, when I tried to open the file on the disc, it wouldn't

    Any tips guys
    Cheers in Advance

    HB

If you are using WinXP It would be worth updating your ASPI drivers. Do a google search to find them.

Generally the ones from Roxio work fine if the ones installed with WINXP don't. You might also try booting into linux from a USB Key and seeing if you can burn a cd from there.

If the drive is stuck shut, there should be a pinhole in the cd drive, if you poke it with a pin it should pop open for you.

While the info is technically correct,

From the Posters original post it does not appear that this is his problem. It appears that his machine is not writing CD's when it previously did. It's unlikely to be a hardware issue as his only problem is writing. He can read CD's Fine. Doing this from a LiveCD would most likely cause the OS to Crash as it needs to run programs from the CD. Would you unplug your System Hard Drive, That's what taking it out from a LiveCD environment would be the equivalent of doing. I realise you are a moderator, and I am by no means questioning your authority, but I feel that from experience that my solution will work for him.
